Ken Eckert's Moldy Rutabaga Blogette
and Catalytic Exteriorization Phenomena

December 2006

It is official; I've given notice, my wife and I are trying to shed a great deal of junk from our apartment, and the tickets are bought. No one believes that I'm actually going to Las Vegas to study, but I am. In January I will be a student at UNLV. I've told the trainees that I'm writing my thesis on Elvis Literature. Way too many of them believed me.

September 2006

I am lately working on a graduate school application for Ph.D. studies in English, which I hope to begin next year. I've also made a quickie new music video for Kill the Wabbit.

August 2006

I've just returned with my wife and daughter from a vacation in Edmonton, Canada. Edmonton continues to boom, which is wonderful if you're a young tradesman, but not so good if your income is fixed or you're visiting. Things have really become expensive here, and service is so bad in restaurants that it's not that much fun to go out anymore. I feel like the old cranks who want another depression to teach people some character. It might also be the fact that Edmonton only booms when I'm away and not looking for work that irks me.

My nephew Kevin wakeboarding near Deep Cove, Vancouver.

A display of mountain goats in the Royal Alberta Museum. Endangered, like everything else, because of the greedy despoilations of whitey. Next to the First Nations gallery, where a noble, peaceful, idyllic culture was destroyed by selfish, evil, oppressive European male— OK... we got it...

Some greenery in the beautiful Muttart conservatory in Edmonton.
A restaurant sign we saw in the airport, Taipei. Well, that says it all. Why does all airport food have to be so awful, anyway?

June 2006

This June we went on another trip to Thailand, this time on a quickie tour. I'm not really a fan of package tours and the get up go here now do this now! schedules, but it was a nice getaway. See a video from the Sriracha Tiger Zoo, Pattaya. Or see pictures from our previous Vacation in Thailand (Feb 2006).

I am presently an English instructor at the Korea National University of Education, near Jochiwon. Here I am with Ariel and Esther at the Canola Festival near Cheonan. Let me just say I have never eaten tougher corn-on-the-cob in my life.

Wedding photographs

Ariel and I had an album of wedding photographs taken in Busan. Here are a few. This Korean tradition makes good sense as it's less stressful than taking all of your photographs on your wedding day. And how many times do I get to wear a toreador's outfit (more often than you might think, actually). Click on any of the photos to enlarge them.

About Ken

I call this a blogette because of its size, although it seems to be growing. Here you can read about my vitally important news and opinions on everything. I am a Canadian. I am an English professor at Hanyang University in Korea. I am a Christian. I am a Lessetarian. My band is Kill the Wabbit. My website is here; sometimes it has mistakes.
