Understanding Brit & Amer Fic: Final Paper Project

Final paper project

Write an MLA format argument paper of about 800 words on The Great Gatsby or The Grapes of Wrath or Harry Potter and the Philospher’s Stone (but not the same novel as your first paper).

  1. The paper must address one of the discussion questions listed on this blog and make an argument with examples and reasons, focused on the text.
  2. The paper must extensively quote from the text. Use short quotes rather than padding the paper with unnecessarily long quotes.
  3. The paper must include at least three external sources in English in the paper. They must be listed in an MLA format Works Cited list and be quoted in the paper.
  • Refer to the “Files” heading on this site for an example of MLA formatting. We’ll discuss this in class as well.
  • Grading will be on four criteria: Grammar; structure; argumentation, and external evidence.

Due: Thursday, December 11. On Tuesday, December 9 we will have readings, where volunteers can read their papers for extra credit.
