  1. What are Henry’s motives for invading France? Can we be sure that he is being honest in what he says?
  2. How are women presented in the play, such as Nell, Catherine, and her nurse?
  3. Does the play glorify war? Is this a good thing?
  4. Compare the French politicians/royalty to the English ones. How are they different?
  5. How does Henry convince Catherine to marry him? Would you marry someone who just defeated your country? Is she right to do so?
  6. Is the play “snobbish” for portraying Pistol, Nim, and other commoners as drunken and lazy?
  7. Henry is forced to watch one of his best friends from his youth hang after he robs a church during the war. Is he right to let his friend be punished? What does it say about Henry?
  8. Are there other themes or ideas in the play you think are interesting?
